School Profile

Founded in 1969, Hillside Student Community School offers 6,000 sq. ft of classrooms, science room, gym, theater barn and office situated on 5 acres of cedar and fir forest on Cougar Mountain. The student community is made up of a mix of honors students; students interested in writing, math, drama, science, fine arts; home-schooled students seeking a community; competitive fencers; and those excited about learning.

Grades: 5 – 12

Accreditation: Approved by the NCAA.

Advanced Studies: Honors classes are offered at all levels with a special emphasis on the promotion of unusual competence in writing skills, often noted by colleges receiving our students. 90% of our students participate in Running Start in 12th grade.

Teacher/Student Ratio: 1 to 5

School Size: 11 teaching staff and 50 students.

College Placement: Previous graduates accepted by many excellent schools, including: Bryn Mawr, Columbia, Hampshire College, Harvard, MIT, Oberlin College, Reed, St. John’s College, Stanford, Swarthmore, University of Chicago, University of Washington, Whitman College.
