Overview of Grades 5 – 6

Hillside Hillside’s exceptional academic core of literature, math, science and history is enriched by drama, creative writing, and art with our experienced artists in residence. Intellectual independence, creativity and in depth understanding is fostered through hands on investigation and open-ended tasks. The disciplines of writing, reading and grammar usage are integrated to support all aspects of our program.

Scheduling

The school year is divided into trimesters for grades 5/6. Most classes are fifty minutes in length except during the month of January, which is devoted primarily to rehearsals and preparation for the drama production.

Grades and Evaluations

Teachers provide written comments and grades-in-progress at the end of each trimester. Parent-student-teacher conferences are provided three times a year.
